Suretoss have endured a number of lineup changes and relocations since their start in 1993. But by the time of the 1998 recording Quiet Christmas, frontman Chris McFarlane decided to go solo, playing all the instruments himself while remaining under the Suretoss moniker. Resulting in three home recordings of gentle pop that includes an Elevator to Hell cover, McFarlane's melancholy mood stays within the lyrical theme of being left by yourself during the holiday season. Intended as a dedication to McFarlane's girlfriend, Suretoss thankfully doesn't cross the line of writing sappy Christmas love songs. He simply offers pure lo-fi pop recorded in the do-it-yourself ethics.
