St. Eloi Juniors are the sons of the talented vocalist Patrick St. Eloi from Kassav. This is their first album, and the musical genes are strongly evident. The album starts off a little slowly and seems to be no different than many other zouk albums. The steam starts to gather pretty quickly and the swing quotient kicks in showing that the torch has been passed on to the new generation. One son looks exactly like his father and has a voice that rivals him also. What is refreshing here is that the ubiquitous hip-hop influence is absent. The zouk here is spirited and rock solid. "Fe Vou Plesi," "Vwayage," "Se Djoni" and the phenomenal non-stop "Soca Zouk" all bristle with Antillean sun and energy. This a group to watch. They will undoubtedly be key figures in the zouk of the new millennium. Highly recommended.
