AllMusic Review by

The Stash label made its original reputation by releasing around a dozen LPs filled with mostly little-known vintage recordings of jazz and blues artists discussing (often in veiled ways) drugs and sex. This album sticks to the former and is (with two exceptions) from the 1927-41 period. Highlights include a test-pressing version of Cab Calloway's classic "Kickin' the Gong Around," Cab's famous "Reefer Man," Stuff Smith's humorous "You'se a Viper," Lil Green's "Knockin' Myself Out" and Blue Lu Barker's "Don't You Make Me High."
