On the Port of Nuba record, the Porter Ricks duo explores two variations of a disjointed composite of rhythms. The A-side introduces listeners to the physical sounds of "Port of Nuba," with its overlapping collection of galloping basslines and rhythm tracks. The B-side leaves those physical sounds and explores the more surreal, aquatic sounds of "Nautical Nuba." Both of these tracks last around nine minutes and don't deviate much from their arrangement, except for slow modulations and a continuous emphasis on phasing the tracks. Essentially, "Port of Nuba" and "Nautical Nuba" are the same song, with the latter being simply a much more altered take on the former, alluding to its nautical nature. Strangely enough, the surreal B-side, "Nautical Nuba," stands out as the stronger version; its heavy use of filtering and phasing eases the nauseatingly tangible presence of the A-side's somewhat punishing nature.
