This is a slightly weird three-Lp series not helped out by an ugly drawing on its cover. Trumpeter Webster Young, who sounds a little like Davis, performs four lengthy selections ("Whispering," "Stablemates," "Ray's Idea" and "When I Fall In Love") with tenor-saxophonist Freddie Washington, either John Chapman or Jodie Christian on piano, bassist John Mixon and drummer Chauncey Williams. The live music is a bit rough in spots and the recording quality is just ok but there are some good moments, particularly from the trumpeter. Worth picking up at a budget price.
