In the collection Musicworks # 63. Played by the Arcana Ensemble.
A delightful, gently humorous piece for acoustic ensemble (1993), that easily draws our attention to what kinds of gestures constitute humor in music. The first four minutes of the 6½-minute work are carefree and minimalist built on a pattern shaped like a birdcall. Then at the five-minute mark the music seems to get a little sadder, the repeated patterns cease, the piano barks some large accents, and finally the tuba plays a couple of low notes. The ending is definite not "happy" in the usual sense, again returning us listeners back to our preconceptions.
