The three-piece Perplexa creates a few fascinating instrumental tones -- their constructions of atmospheric tones, low organ buzzes, and drifting guitar touches with the e-bowed feel of David Sylvian pulse beautifully along through dynamically slow builds, crests, and decrescendoes. Perplexa has a few lamentably "proggy" moments -- the desert-rock of "Desert" sounds like a problematic Thin White Rope track -- but the group's dreamier compositions certainly make up for the occasional misstep.
