On this release, Carl Craig and Kenny Dixon, Jr. give quite different remixes to "People Make the World Go Round." Originally performed by the Stylistics, the old funk song was given a unique twist by Craig on his album Programmed. He had Paul Randolph sing the vocals, and used his Innerzone Orchestra to supply the musical shadings around the vocals. The original mix on Programmed was pretty much a straightforward, catchy pop song featuring well-sung vocals and an outro jam by the group. Here, Craig's "C2 remix" adds a tech edge to the song, gradually taking it further from the world of pop and into the world of techno. Dixon takes a much different approach, reworking the song with Norma Jean Bell and her saxophone. Dixon's version is a straight-up funky jazz jam session, with his programmed house beats functioning as a template for the others to jam on. Both remixes are top-notch, heading in two very different directions.
