AllMusic Review by

Las Chicas del Can, who were hanging out in the lower reaches of the salsa charts in May 1987 are part of the growing Wilfrido Vargas empire. They groove off more of a cutesy pose than Belkis Concepcion, but underneath the girl group carryings on is a remarkable amount of musical intelligence devoted to laudably frivolous ends: check out the counter-melodies in passages of "La Contrabandista" as an example. Silliness is alive and well. Trend-hunters will spot, incidentally, the fact that this was recorded in Ecuador, Venezuela and D.R., and note the ample helpings of Central and South American elements throughout.
