Similar to keyboardist Ted Howe's previous release, Promised Places, Paris Eyes consists of nine originals either by the leader or Annie Howe. The music could easily serve as television theme songs, since it has forgettable melodies and routine playing. The musicians, mostly lesser-known players other than drummer-percussionist Jim Brock, are talented but largely wasted on this material, which sometimes hints at new age or instrumental pop and never rises above the level of background lite-jazz. These players are all capable of better.
