AllMusic Review by

James Phillip Miner has an intriguing release that combines the peacefulness of Steven Halpern, the sensitivity of Bruce BecVar, and, on one cut, the stinging guitar of a rock virtuoso. At first listen, it is easy to allow this to be a pure background ambience, but the many-layered musical subtleties draw the listener back repeatedly. The music, mostly synthesizers, electric and acoustic guitars, is lightly dusted with percussion, and laced with a flavor of the Hawaiian islands, where Miner makes his home; it ranges from contemplative to softly rhythmic to slightly spacey to full-tilt intense fusion, all carefully sequenced to move us from one mood to the next with grace and ease. This is a truly delightful album that takes you through a musical maze with surprises waiting to be discovered around every corner, leaving you with a wonderful sense of fulfillment and longing.
