AllMusic Review by

Andy White goes looking for "James Joyce's Grave" on his latest Out There -- the song is a metaphor for a self-identity search, fuelled in part by travels White undertook through Eastern Europe. It's fourth time out for the Irish singer-songwriter, who remains regrettably little-known in North America. Like compatriot and label-mate Luka Bloom, White is difficult to categorize, mixing and matching folk, pop, jazz and rock influences under a smooth, sing-speak Irish brogue. White, however, is much less the romantic, his songwriting leaning more to acerbic wit. "Speechless" segues tales from a North American tour with harrowing images of the Gulf War and African starvation.
