Out of the Lion's Mouth is the eclectic and psychedelic-influenced five-song debut from Andrew McCutcheon. Relying heavily on the literary/poetic side of musical art, Out of the Lion's Mouth combines rhythmic imagery with thoughtful expression, creating a conduit between the sounds we hear and the ideas which inform them. "Palomino Truck Stop," "The Taste of Your Heart," and the title track itself, in their faithful representation of a folk/rap/retro-rock blend, cover everyone from Jim Morrison to Glen Campbell and Bob Dylan. While overwhelming at times in its kitsch factor, and occasionally meandering, this solo debut does merit favor for its inventiveness and sincerity of purpose. One thing is for certain: it's never predictable.
