With an alto range nearing that of Sharlene Wells Hawkes, Michele Baer draws upon her fervent voice to push across messages of spiritual preparation and worthiness. Songs are based on a plethora of scriptural references and citations from recent church magazines depicting the need for following prophets, the work of God moving forward, and the power of the savior to straighten lives. Years of vocal coaching reverberate in her writing style: "Like a Stone," for one, is much more suited for a peppy show choir than for the radio. Baer's best chance at reaching teenagers is to tailor her material for choral groups. This is great fireside material, particularly for women's ensemble. Out of the Dust appropriately reflects the ethereal use of synthesizers, harps, and strings as accompaniment. "Count on the Prophet" is a standout conclusion.
