AllMusic Review by Scott Yanow

A year before the first Bebop and Beyond recording, Mel Martin (heard on alto, soprano, tenor, flutes, piccolo, bass clarinet and piano) teamed up with guitarist Randy Vincent on record for the first time. This set of duets is bop-oriented, with the repertoire including Thelonious Monk's "Trinkle Tinkle," "Sly Mongoose," a free improvisation based on "Trinkle," "Wait 'Til You See Her," and three originals. Vincent's distinctive and unusual sound, as well as Martin's versatility, make this obscure LP worth a search.
