Road to Amber's One of These Days, a three-song EP, is the earlier work of Chris Lloyd and Nicole Leonard, two of the three Tui-winning musicians who went on to become Lothlorien. Here they're accompanied by Stuart Duncan on the bass, and the result is several original songs with light, ethereal tones that are more folk and pop influenced at this point. (They go more strongly Celtic later, as Lothlorien.) "One of These Days" is a pleasing melody, with quality instrumentation, but unfortunately, the lyrics are a bit predictable, about awaiting release at the end of a relationship. Listeners may find that they prefer the instrumental version also included, which brings the song's strong points to the fore. There's a fine line between high and shrill, and Leonard balances on the knife edge of it for the choruses of "You're Gone." She succeeds, yet the result may be a bit edgy for some tastes. Again, the lyrics about love and loss are a touch clichéd ("I lost the battle to keep you/I need to be strong/but I'm torn apart over you"), yet she gets it to work. So while One of These Days did indicate the places that would benefit from polishing, it also showed the instrumental promise that will go on to be fulfilled in Lothlorien.
