Take an average folk-rock record and add some leftist politics, a bluesy, distorted guitar, and a singer bellowing into a tin can. What do you get? The sound of the (Young) Pioneers, a band so innovative and original that they couldn't possibly spawn any imitators. Even if they do tend to wear on the ears (be warned, this isn't for everyone), these guys should be credited for bringing a breath of fresh air to the narrow-minded, sometimes condescending "punk" attitude.
