Omar Chandler

Omar Chandler sings these nine tracks with passion and conviction; he raises romanticism to sweet heights on "This Must Be Heaven," a duet with Audrey Wheeler, and the infectious "Love Tangle." Chandler's smokey tenor/baritone isn't endowed with a wide range, but he gives his all without reservation. A sax solo accents "I'd Rather Be With You," which is also helped by Roz Davis, Devora Thacker, and Timmy Allen's backing vocals. Keith Sweat contributes the formulaic hip-hopper "Giving You Every Drop," but "You Know How to Love Me" and the socially conscious "Better World" are better examples of new jack swing. "You Changed Me for the Better" and "If Only" are smooth urban soul with tender lyrics.
