AllMusic Review by

Altoist Christopher Hollyday (16 at the time) and his older brother, 21-year-old Richard Hollyday, team up with future star organist John Medeski (heard here on piano), bassist John Lockwood and veteran drummer Alan Dawson on this small-label release. The Hollyday brothers are heard essentially playing bop and hard bop, performing a pair of Lee Morgan tunes, two of the trumpeter's originals, and a song apiece by Tom McIntosh ("The Cup Bearers"), Dizzy Gillespie and John Coltrane. Not much has been heard from Richard (who shows potential) since, but Christopher would be recording for Novus in less than three years. They both sound fine on this obscure but worthy straight-ahead release.
