This CD reissue has two excellent albums by one of the best singers of all time in Brazil, Elis Regina: Essa Mulher and Saudades Do Brasil (minus ten tracks from the latter). A great samba singer, truly hot and swinging (the opening track "Cai Dentro," written by her request by Baden Powell and Paulo César Pinheiro, is a provocation directed towards Nara Leão after a discussion, implying that Leão couldn't swing hard as Regina), Regina also demonstrates here her rare ability to deliver passionate, profound songs. The excellent band and arrangements (by her former husband César Camargo Mariano) are up to the challenge. The album has some of Regina's biggest hits, like "Cai Dentro," "O Bêbado E A Equilibrista," "Basta de Clamares Inocência," "Beguine Dodói," "Eu Hein, Rosa," "As Aparências Enganam," "Maria, Maria," and several others.
