One would assume glancing at this Lp that the music would be swing-oriented jazz, but unforuntately the emphasis is on novelties and dated effects. Mel Henke is a fine pianist but makes one wonder about his lack of taste. Assisted by guitarist Bill Newman, bassist Bob Reed and either Shelly Manne or Sammy Weiss on drums he performs odd versions of some swing standards plus such originals as "Shock Treatment," "Cocky Coo-Coo Clock" and "Frenzied Flight." This is one to skip.
