The Stockholm punk/garage quartet the Teenage Idols storm in with an instantly familiar riff and a kick-ass rhythm on "Beat Generator," which could easily be some lost Stooges classic and, while sounding alarmingly reminiscent, still remains totally irresistible. The same vein is continued on the next three songs and, while they pale in comparison to "Beat Generator," they do not fall off the map completely; instead, they seem to mine the Stooges/MC5 vein a bit too deeply, resulting in less winsome material. With a not so subtle wink, it appears the Teenage Idols are like a teenager who first discovers alcohol -- it seems they still have a few lessons to learn from their irony-laced and energy-laden older Swedish brothers, the Hives.
