AllMusic Review by

The Tindersticks' No More Affairs single from 1995 features the album version of the heartbreaking title track (taken from 1995's self-titled album) plus two more songs. "Instrumental" is, unsurprisingly, an instrumental. There's an instrumental version of "No More Affairs," even, with trumpeter Terry Edwards playing the melody line. His playing is certainly more dynamic than Stuart Staples' vocals, but without that familiar tear-stained mumble the song is little more than a pleasant tune. The third song, "Fruitless," is another instrumental; brief and inessential, it was actually a bonus track on the vinyl edition of the band's first album. This release shows how hard it is to come up with quality B-sides when you have just released your second double LP and is of interest to Tindersticks completists only.
