A bootleg of demo tapes from the Almost Blue sessions, the first 13 tracks of this hodgepodge CD vary little from the arrangements on the finished album. However, for fans of Almost Blue who wish there were more Costello covers of old country ballads, the CD is a find and includes several tracks that never made it onto official releases. (Two of these, "He's Got You" and "I'll Take Good Care of You" Costello refers to as "lost" in the liner notes of the Almost Blue re-release -- well, here they are!). As demos, none of the band are at their best, but it's to be expected. The remaining ten cuts are a selection of various live tracks to fill up the time (a most generous bootlegger!), including duets with Nick Lowe on "His Latest Flame," T-Bone Burnett on "Baby's in Black," and previously bootlegged tracks from the Flip City Demos and John Peel Sessions. The CD is badly sequenced, with two songs sharing one track.
