A two-disc, 30-track compilation of some of the Genovese group's biggest hits, Souvenir: The Very Best of Matia Bazar is a good way to catch up on their long history (they formed in 1975) without having to buy each one of their many albums. Of course, this also means that the collection focuses on their more popular work ("C'è Tutto un Mondo Intorno," "Stasera Che Sera," "Per un'Ora d'Amore," and the ubiquitous "Vacanze Romane") instead of those less frequently heard, making it a better choice for someone looking to familiarize themselves with at least part of the band's output, not for one with an already very intimate knowledge. The tracks aren't in chronological order, and so the progression of Matia Bazar's sound is a little difficult to trace here, but Souvenir: The Very Best of Matia Bazar still works as a decent starting point nonetheless.
