AllMusic Review by

Motorcycle Childhood, while not stunning brilliant, somehow fares much better than a lot of similar stripped-down, low-fi pop records; Meade is able to construct a song from an acoustic guitar, a tinny keyboard, and vocals, or simply acoustic guitar and vocals, and create a pop sound that's far more polished and engaging than many other artists in the genre. When Motorcycle Childhood moves into fuller territory, adding percussion and larger arrangments, things fare even better -- the stripped-down realism of the recording lets Meade's charming compositions shine, and the record ends up being rather appealing.
