AllMusic Review by

B.L.I.M. steps to the turntables for the first in a series of Izm compilations from new-school breaks impresario Rennie Pilgrem's Thursday Club Recordings. As can be expected from the taste-making DJ/producer, who jumped the drum'n'bass ship in 1998 in favor of the then-nascent breaks scene, the mix is beat-perfect, using flickering effects to add sparkle to a selection that impressively covers all facets of the movement from just two sources, TCR itself and B.L.I.M.'s own Track imprint. Club favorites "Triffid" and "Eskimo" knock boots with the junglistic barks of "Mr. Jingles" from Two Sinners, while killer bees populate the filthy low end of Blu Mar Ten's "The Swarm." Throw in tracks from Chris Carter, the Dub Marines, Funkaholics, and Breakneck, and Modernizm amounts to a definitive selection from a genre leader who will ensure that hips are kept swinging into the fade.
