The second sampler album from Ishtal (the first came out in 2003), Modern Sounds from Italy, Vol. 2 aims to not only show off who the label has had in their stable since the beginning (S-Tone Inc, Gerardo Frisina) but some newer artists (the Invisible Session), as well. The 11 songs included on Vol. 2 are a nice mix of contemporary jazz, samba (Rosalia de Souza was born and spent her early years in Brazil), and house from some of the top artists in the Italian scene, and the clean, sultry summertime vocals and instrumental arrangements found on it provide a nice, chilled-out setting. For those looking to hear what's coming out in the foreign market in terms of club and lounge music, Modern Sounds from Italy, Vol. 2 is one of the better options out there.
