AllMusic Review by

This slightly suspect Jimmy Cliff release has a convoluted history. A two-disc set, the first disc is actually the early-'90s album called Breakout, a largely unsuccessful drum machine and synth experiment that has been released by several labels under different titles over the years, including Steppin' Out of Limbo, Shout for Freedom, and Samba Reggae. The second disc of this set is drawn from a 1993 concert in support of the Breakout album, and both discs were previously released under the title Live and in the Studio on the Jamaican Vibes label. All that aside, this is clearly not one of Cliff's better musical periods, and newcomers would be better served seeking out his late-'60s work with legendary producer Leslie Kong.
