On his second offering for Fonovisa, the young Sinaloan singer and songwriter (who currently makes his home in Mazatlan) delivers nine more songs that build on the strength of his three pre-release charting singles -- "Tu Ex-Novio," "Olvidas," and "El Amor Que Había Soñado." As the title suggests, these are unremittingly passionate, romantic corridos and bandas, though there are a few nice twists as well. For example, "Qué Ganaste" has a nice tropical lilt in its hook, while "Prohibida" is a darkly tinged, passionate tune with a sultry mambo rhythm. While Palencia showed great promise on his 2012 debut, Mis Canciones... Ustedes y Yo, and through this set's early singles, they only hinted at the depth and diversity evidenced on Mi Romanticismo.
