AllMusic Review by

On the debut release for his first eponymous solo project, Jason Newsted and company nail their flag to the mast with a four-song EP that finds the former Metallica bassist taking a look back at the good old days of classic thrash metal. Coming in at a little over 20 minutes, the EP finds Newsted performing a bit of a heavy metal smash and grab, delivering a quick burst of sneering, groove-heavy aggression and getting out before the listener has time to wonder what happened. Though it's not necessarily a reinvention of the form or anything, it's certainly a promising opening shot from a heavy metal veteran and should leave fans of his other projects hungry for more.
