With one exception (four numbers from a Clarence Williams led group from 1935 titled The Birmingham Serenaders) all of the music on this collectors' LP features bands from the South. The original Yellow Jackets (no relation to The Yellowjackets of the 1990s), Jimmy Luverte's Society Troubadours And Ted Mays's Band are long forgotten but two numbers from The Carolina Cotton Pickers in 1937 are notable for being the recording debut of both trumpeter Cat Anderson and pianist Cliff Smalls. It's an interesting if now difficult-to-find LP that is recommended to specialists of the era.
