Titled after an old Link Wray standard, the final track on the single, Mary-Ann otherwise consists of spirited Golightly originals that burn with all the sharp wit and attitude -- and great singing -- that characterizes her. "This Happens" sets the initial stage with electric fire, but "Candle Song" takes a great turn towards the ballads, with a dreamy guitar figure and cool organ from Bruce Brand pitching it somewhere between the Shangri-Las and punk bite, slowed down just enough. "If I Should Ever Leave" takes a bluesy turn, with heavy reverb on Brand's mouth harp and the lead guitar, while Golightly's singing gets some extra tweaking itself. "Mary-Ann" itself closes things up with some extra vocal and guitar snarls from Baine Watson and plenty of wild hoe-down shouts for atmosphere. About all they're missing is the great man himself.
