Henry Marshall and his group of singers present these four lesser-known Sanskrit chants as unpretentious, hymn-like songs, with gentle piano and guitar accompaniment. Like Robert Gass, Marshall arranges Hindu mantras in a friendly, comfortable style more akin to a Protestant guitar mass than to a traditional kirtan. This is an unobtrusive way to introduce Westerners to the joy of chant. Like all Marshall albums, a supplementary booklet details the lyrics and purpose of each mantra.
