AllMusic Review by

Another collection of tracks that Nelson refers to as "sonic snapshots," created in the heat of inspiration and recorded, as often as was possible, using first takes. It doesn't take much guessing to deduce that some of these pieces actually saw some degree of pre-production thought. However, listeners can believe that Nelson sometimes switched tracks in the middle of his work -- "Brutal Tinkerbell" makes an impressive shift into harder territory after its dreamy beginning, shifting back again for the coda. The most common element throughout, mind you, is the general good humor and playfulness; this is the Bill Nelson who gave the world "Scootercar Sexkitten" (on After the Satellite Sings), and it's fun to hear him in such great form. For those who harbor a fondness for the guitar pyrotechnics, there is plenty of that to satisfy here too -- most of it interesting enough to beg extensive, repeated listening. An essential inclusion on the Nelson-ian shelf.
