AllMusic Review by

Previously appearing on low-decibel compilations Mushroom Jazz and Serve Chilled but probably most widely known for their inclusion on Everything But the Girl's Back to Mine installment, Deadbeats had pretty much glued their reputation on hip-hop-styled downtempo. By the time they released their debut, it was clear they didn't much care for straying far from the template. With lots of smoke-filled grooves and production that focused on mood rather than impact, it was all rather crisp and minimal, like a less desperate Chris Clark, if still relatively uninteresting.
