AllMusic Review by

Country singer Emily Rogers released this debut, full-length offering in the fall of 2001. Looking Across These Fields is a pretty decent effort, though some tunes have lyrics that aren't quite up to country standards of the time. Rogers, who was only 18 at the time this album hit the store shelves, sings with an agreeable country-girl twang, but with a voice that sounds way more mature than her slight number of years. Music lovers will find it hard to believe they are listening to a teen. A few of the tracks country & western fans might enjoy from this album include "Keeping You Close," "You and Me," "Where Do We Go From Here," "I Should've Known Better," "Now's the Time," and "Funny Cowboy," which was the first single Rogers recorded. The latter earned the young singer plenty of attention from radio stations in Europe the year before the album was completed.
