The contents are as simple and straightforward as the name: one complete live set by Eric Burdon, former singer of the Animals and one of the great British R&B singers. At his best, Burdon is at least the equal of prime Faces-era Rod Stewart, and often his superior. While this set isn't Burdon at his absolute peak, he sings with a vitality that belies his own age and the age of most of these songs.
Focusing on Animals hits--"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," "When I Was Young," "We Gotta Get Out of This Place"--and prime R&B covers--"River Deep Mountain High," "Lawdy Miss Clawdy"--Burdon sounds like he's having the time of his life, and the excellent backing band burns throughout. Fans won't be disappointed.
