This enjoyable tape captures a lengthy performance by the Art Ensemble of Chicago from November 1, 1981. During the set, the Art Ensemble (featuring trumpeter Lester Bowie, Joseph Jarman and Roscoe Mitchell on reeds, bassist Malachi Favors, and drummer Don Moye) cover a lot of ground from free jazz to bop and funk, with a touch of New Orleans parade rhythms. This time capsule gives one a good idea of how unique the adventurous group was in its prime.
