Live at the Kerava Jazz Festival: Finland features multi-instrumentalist Kali Z. Fasteau with Kidd Jordan and Newman Taylor Baker performing nine compositions on nine different instruments. Fasteau plays the mizmar, piano, nai flute, cello, synthesizer, vocals, violin, drum set, and soprano saxophone, all of which embrace and hold the listener in her repertoire of free jazz and avant-garde improvisations and trance music. Her agility and imagination seem boundless on these songs, while Kidd Jordan's tenor saxophone and Newman Taylor Baker's drumming bring this live performance full circle. This is not your parents' music and is not recommended for the complacent listener. But if you're open to innovation and have truly thirsty ears, then this improvised experience may be just what your mindset tunes in to.
