AllMusic Review by

On the 15th edition of Darla Records' Little Darla Has a Treat for You series, the California label and music distribution company offers up 18 tracks from some of indie's most progressive acts. Released in the summer of 2000, the compilation begins with the dizzying "Music for Girls" by London's Baxendale, from their You Will Have Your Revenge CD on Le Grand Magistery Records. Spain's Nosotrash follows with "Frankenstein," and Philadelphia's Photon Band chime in with the psych-rock "It's Happening Now" from the Oh the Sweet, Sweet Changes LP. Moose makes a case for indie pop immortality with "The Only Man in Town," while Louisville's My Morning Jacket impresses with the exclusive track "When Will They Come." Arlington, VA's Sisterhood of Convoluted Thinkers are featured on the scattered experimentation of "Yakusoku (A Promise)," and Toronto's Stars cover the Smiths' "This Charming Man" on track number eight. Brooklyn's Mascott appears with the title track from Follow the Sound, and London's the Cherry Orchard step in with the bright and seductive "Bubblegum Popgirl." March Records' California Oranges offer up the exclusive rocker "Vanilla Blue," and Austria's B. Fleischmann's "Chad F. Tick and Sax Mix" rounds out the disc with synthesizer-based pop grace. The disc is another impressive release from the label that championed the budget-priced compilation from the mid-'90s onward.
