Lilin Dewa is Loren Nerell's best CD. He draws on many diverse influences and references to create an international soundscape. By combining ethnic acoustic instruments and deep synthesizers, Nerell forges into tribal minimalism territory. While he has always had a fascination with Tibetan bells and other instruments of that region, this disc reflects Nerell's development as a sound designer. He mixes his synth with acoustics deftly and smoothly. Both sounds are critical to the soundscape and neither sound dominates. This wonderful CD will appeal to fans of David Parsons, Robert Carty, Thom Brennan, Tuu, and Terry Oldfield. While it might be difficult to find, it is an essential disc for e-music collectors.
