An updated and remastered edition of the 1970s anthology of field recordings made of U.S.-based wind instrument performers, concentrating on the uillean pipes, flute, and tin whistle, and particularly working to establish the musical links between Ireland and America. Several of the pieces included are actually original compositions following in the styles of traditional Celtic music, often with a focus on a specific teacher (Seamus Ennis springs to mind for the uillean pipers, but there are others). There's also less of the kitchen concert aspect than might be imagined -- some of the performers had (and have) respectable careers in the business of Irish music. All in all, though, a grand collection.
