AllMusic Review by

Lifestyles of the Slow & Low features 17 slow drags including two tight squeezes from the underrated Masqueraders, "I'm Just an Average Guy" and "I Ain't Got to Love Nobody Else." Garland Green's heartfelt "Jealous Kind of Fella," with its pleading spoken intro, gets better with time, as does the Delfonics' creamy "Somebody Loves You," an ace that wallowed in obscurity as a B-side. Other goodies include the Radiants' beautiful three-part harmonies on "Ain't No Big Thing," Brenda & the Tabulations' "When You're Gone," the Dramatics' "Be My Girl," and Aalon's "Rock and Roll Gangster." And don't forget the Manhattans' tender "If My Heart Could Speak," the Notations' "I'm Here," and the Latinos' obscure "The Party's Over."
