Let Jah Music Play consists of a dozen or so obscure Jamaican roots songs and their dubs, selected and mixed by Manutension, one of the key members of the French group known as Improvisators Dub, who are generally acknowledged as the driving force behind the French dub scene. Manutension bills himself as a dub activist, and his mixes are energetic, busy, and generally pretty interesting, although they drift at times towards techno, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just don't expect a straight-up Jamaican-style dub sound. Everything on this two-disc set seems cut from the same cloth, which makes individual tracks seem to bleed into each other in one long dub attack, but many listeners may well find that a strength as much as a weakness.
