This is a fine recording of Azerbaijani music, which is nearer to Iranian than anything else. The instrumentation here is tar lute, kamancha fiddle and def percussion. The performers are all fairly young and apparently at the height of their powers. The music includes a substantial dastagah, a couple of shorter vocal pieces and two fine solo mugam, one for tar and the other for kamancha. Included is wonderful music and good notes.
