AllMusic Review by

A well-respected performer in the opera world for nearly two decades, Spanish soprano Ainhoa Arteta broke through to the mainstream in 2009 with her debut classical pop album La Vida. Featuring flamenco guitarist Javier Limón and Cuban percussionist Horacio "El Negro" Hernández, it includes operatic reworkings of classic pop songs performed in Spanish (Silvio Rodriguez's "La Vida," Ariel Ramírez's "Alfonsina y el Mar"), English (Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven," Elvis Presley's "Love Me Tender"), and French (Jacques Brel's "Ne Me Quitte Pas").
