La Tierra Va a Temblar is a collection of ten relatively straightforward Cuban jazz numbers, performed by some of the city's most prominent players. While the earth doesn't necessarily shake at the sound of these songs, there are strong performances throughout from Chucho Valdés and his crack band Irakere, Banda XL, and Conexion Salsera. The latter's two performances with Daniel Lozada are particularly impressive. "Muy Caliente Para Ti" features Lozada trading vocals with a group vamp, while "El Beso de Amor [El baso de queso]" adds touches of synth to its traditional mambo rhythm. Other standouts include Original de Manzanillo's "Yo Que La Conozco Bien" (featuring Alberto Carrillo), with its hot lead electric guitar licks in the verse.
