This collection of moody, groove-laden deep house from the New Jersey garage duo isn't quite the East Coast house sound most listeners would expect. A bit more Larry Heard than Armand Van Helden, Slam Mode's La Colecion is full of tough grooves and mechanistic melodies that don't recall Studio 54 as much as they do rugged Midwestern productions. An album of solidly produced house.
