Ten years into their career as a guitar trio, acoustic Hawaiian outfit Kohala recorded a pair of live shows in Honolulu, hand-picking the best of the repertoire for something of a live greatest-hits compilation. Kohala's never been known for flights of speed or showy guitar skills, of course, so what they deliver in their live show is aimed straight down the alley for their fans. No new compositions this time around, but fans of the trio should enjoy the live renditions. The guitars work in harmony excellently, accentuating one another as they caress each song a bit. A few cleverly placed hooks and solos help add a bit to the pot, but the work is fairly tame. As an added bonus for the fans, there's a bit of Rupert Tripp singing in this set, a rarity for the normally instrumental group.
